Six Ways To Freshen Your Look Cheaply

Oct 5th, 2011 Fleur Adonis

It is possible that inside your wardrobe are clothes you may not be wearing often. You could have spent a lot on these items and now they might just be lying there, gathering dust and who knows what. But as it turns out there are some economical ways to spruce up your wardrobe. You do not always have to spend a fortune to have new clothes, or clothes that look new for that matter. The solution might be right in your closet

1. Try on all the trousers in your wardrobe. You might find that some of them do not fit. In that case, you can take the ones that don't fit to the tailor. You will find that it is much cheaper to have the old ones tailored than to buy a completely new pair of pants. Besides you will end up saving on the time you would have taken shopping. You can have the waist brought in or the seat let out for anywhere between $10 and $25.

2. You should also inspect your old shoes. The problem with some might just be the sole detaching or maybe lost laces in some. Take all the shoes that still fit and can be repaired to a cobbler. Having a shoe repaired will be much cheaper than buying new shoes.

3. Sweaters are always great no matter what season it is. If you wear yours often, they might get worn out quickly. You might spot holes in some especially at the elbows and at the seams. A good solution is to hand wash all your sweaters and de-pile them manually. It's okay to go for dry cleaning if you want. The ones with holes can always be taken to a tailor. Or if you a have a mum who is good at sewing you can try her. Most mums will love to do that for their sons. You might be surprised how they turn out.

4. You should evaluate your current wardrobe and think about what you need the most. You can find that you only need to buy a few new pieces to coordinate with what you already have. It could be a new pair of pants or perhaps just a tie. Make sure that it works with what you already have.

5. A simple thing to do could be having an old suit or a coat dry cleaned and then pressed. You can also have a sport coat that doesn't quite fit tailored by taking in or letting it out so you can wear it again. You might just be thrilled at the fresh look.

6. Finally, a good advise to use is to sell or consign old items and then use the money to get new stuff. It could work for you. Consignments shops are nowadays rather common. You can also try online stores. They are usually the best for selling second hand items. And considering these bizarre financial times, it might be wise to sell or consign old things than just give them away.
